Government Deploys Pakistan Army Personnel to Support Islamabad Security

Islamabad: The government has requisitioned the services of trained, serving personnel of the Pakistan Army for the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) to strengthen security and law enforcement operations.
According to an official letter issued by the Office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, a formal request has been sent to the relevant authorities seeking the deputation of two army majors and sixteen personnel from the Special Services Group (SSG).
The letter stated that Islamabad Police is currently performing multiple responsibilities, including maintenance of law and order, crime prevention, anti-crime operations, security duties, and route security. Due to these extensive duties, additional manpower has become essential.
Under the request, two majors and sixteen trained SSG personnel are to be deputed against existing vacant positions and placed at the disposal of Islamabad Police. Of the sixteen SSG personnel, ten will be posted at the National Police Academy (NPA) Islamabad mainland.
The move aims to enhance the operational capacity of Islamabad Police amid growing security and law enforcement demands in the federal capital.
