“No One Can Stand Against the System,” Remarks Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani as IHC Reserves Verdict

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved its verdict on the maintainability of a petition challenging the appointment of a labour officer in Islamabad.
During the hearing, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani expressed strong displeasure with the petitioner for being unaware of his own filed petition. The judge questioned the petitioner about who had instructed him to file the petition and whether he even knew the designation of the officer against whom the case was filed.
When the petitioner’s counsel attempted to intervene, Justice Kayani directed him to remain silent, stating that he wished to question the petitioner directly. Upon repeated questioning, the petitioner claimed that he had filed the petition on his own.
Justice Kayani remarked that the petitioner did not even know basic details of the case, warning him about the seriousness of misleading the court. He questioned whether the petitioner had received money to file the case and asked him to disclose the name of the person or department behind the petition. The judge also remarked that lying before the court carries serious consequences.
The court directed the court staff to seat the petitioner in the courtroom. After completion of all cases, the petitioner’s lawyer requested that his client be allowed to leave, to which Justice Kayani responded that the petitioner was a free citizen.
During the proceedings, Justice Kayani observed that “no one can stand against the system,” adding that individuals should be allowed to fight their own battles. He recalled a past case where the appointment of a PhD professor was challenged by a petitioner who was not even fifth-grade qualified.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the Islamabad High Court reserved its decision on the matter.
