State Actions Against Guerrilla Warfare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan Deemed Islamically Justified, Says Mufti Abdul Rahim

Islamabad: Renowned religious scholar Mufti Abdul Rahim has issued a detailed religious ruling (fatwa) regarding the ongoing guerrilla warfare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, declaring the state’s actions to be in full compliance with Islamic law.
Mufti Abdul Rahim explained that guerrilla warfare is inherently deceptive and designed to create a divide between the people and the state. He elaborated that the attackers typically strike specific targets suddenly and then quickly flee, in order to manipulate the state’s response against local populations.
He clarified that based on this deceptive strategy, if the state makes arrests on suspicion, Islamic law permits such actions, even if hundreds of individuals are detained.
The scholar further emphasized that in cases where a mosque is attacked or a suicide bombing occurs, a state response is inevitable. He added that if any innocent individuals are killed as a result of such actions, Islamic law mandates diyat (blood money) to be paid by the military, though the soldiers cannot be considered sinful for the act.
Mufti Abdul Rahim also stated that individuals who support terrorism on social media are equally complicit in the crime. He remarked that not just the killers, but also the facilitators, share in the sin of murder.
He concluded by noting that the strategy behind guerrilla warfare is intentionally designed to provoke and incite the local population.
