US Cancels Visas of Over 100,000 People, Including 8,000 Students

The United States has cancelled the visas of **more than 100,000 individuals**, including **8,000 students**, according to the US State Department.
The State Department said that during the **first year of President Donald Trump’s presidency**, over 100,000 visas were revoked. These included visas of individuals who had entered the US for **business and tourism** but continued to stay in the country even after their permitted duration had expired.
According to officials, those whose visas were cancelled include **8,000 students** and **2,500 people who had arrived for employment purposes**. The majority of these individuals were found to have **criminal records or evidence of legal violations**.
The State Department said visas were also revoked on charges including **drunk driving, violence, theft, child abuse, drug trafficking, and financial corruption**.
It further clarified that **deportations and visa cancellations will continue** as part of efforts to keep the United States safe.
It is worth noting that in **August last year**, the Trump administration announced a review of visas issued to **55 million individuals**.
