Transport Fares from Quetta Remain Unchanged Despite Reduction in Fuel Prices

Quetta: Despite a reduction of Rs10 per liter in petroleum prices by the government, transport fares for travel from Quetta to various parts of the province have not been reduced. Instead, transporters have reportedly increased fares, causing hardship for passengers.
According to reports, the fare from Quetta to Jacobabad remains Rs800, while mini-van services are charging up to Rs1,000. In some cases, transporters have increased fares by Rs100 instead of passing on relief to commuters. Vehicles traveling to Jacobabad are reportedly charging as much as Rs1,300 per passenger.
Similarly, passengers traveling from Quetta to Mach, Dhadar, Sibi, Bakhtiarabad, Notal, Dera Murad Jamali, and Dera Allah Yar are being charged the same fare, regardless of distance. It has also been reported that the Transport Authority has not issued official fare lists to transporters, and no fare charts are displayed in vans or coaches.
Passengers further complained that front seats are being charged up to Rs3,000, while rear seats cost Rs2,000. In some services, including Toyota Hiace vehicles, four passengers are being seated on back seats, violating safety and transport regulations.
Citizens have urged the Provincial Minister for Transport, the Provincial Secretary Transport, and the Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) to take notice of the rising fares and the treatment of passengers, and to ensure immediate relief for the public.
