Balochistan CM Expresses Dissatisfaction Over Quetta’s Sanitation, Orders Immediate Action on Public Complaints

Quetta: Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has expressed dissatisfaction over the overall cleanliness situation in the provincial capital, Quetta, and directed authorities to ensure effective and immediate measures to address public complaints.
A high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister was held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to review sanitation arrangements in Quetta. The meeting was attended by Adviser for Local Government Nawabzada Baba Amir Hamza Zehri, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Development Zahid Saleem, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, Secretary Finance Imran Zarkoon, Commissioner Quetta Division Shahzaib Kakar, Project Director Quetta Development Project Rafiq Baloch, CEO Public Private Partnership Dr. Faisal Khan, officials of Safa Quetta, and senior officers from relevant departments.
During the meeting, Safa Quetta management and the Quetta Metropolitan Corporation briefed participants on ongoing cleanliness operations, challenges, resource utilization, and future plans. Various aspects of the current sanitation system and its performance were discussed in detail.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and the Adviser for Local Government voiced serious concern over the existing sanitation conditions and instructed concerned authorities to bring immediate, effective, and practical improvements, ensuring visible results on the ground. It was decided that an independent survey would be conducted to assess public opinion and overall sanitation performance in order to accurately identify public complaints and ground realities.
The Chief Minister also ordered the establishment of a fast and effective complaint redressal mechanism to ensure timely relief for citizens. The meeting decided that strict action and fines would be imposed on individuals dumping garbage in open spaces instead of designated dustbins and dumping points. Safe City Quetta cameras will be used to identify violators in public places to ensure effective enforcement of the law.
Addressing the meeting, Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that no negligence would be tolerated regarding the cleanliness of Quetta. He stressed that public opinion must be given priority and concrete steps taken to resolve issues, adding that taxpayers’ money must be spent on public welfare.
The Chief Minister emphasized that a clean, healthy, and well-organized Quetta is part of the provincial government’s commitment. He said all institutions must fulfill their responsibilities with honesty, adding that public cooperation is also essential in maintaining cleanliness. He reaffirmed that coordinated and sustained efforts will continue to transform Quetta into a clean and exemplary provincial capital, warning that any lapse in this regard will not be tolerated.
