Deadlock Over Mines and Minerals Act; CM Warns Opposition to Reach Consensus or Bill Will Be Passed by Majority

*Quetta (Daily Qudrat):* Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has addressed opposition concerns regarding the Mines and Minerals Bill during a session of the provincial assembly, emphasizing that the legislation was initially passed by consensus, though certain reservations emerged later.

He clarified that once an act is passed through legislation, it cannot be blocked by an executive order; however, mining activities have been verbally suspended for the time being. CM Bugti issued an ultimatum to opposition parties, urging them to submit a consensus-based draft of the bill soon. “If the opposition fails to reach an agreement, the government will pass the bill again using its majority,” he warned.

The Panel of Chairpersons directed the Leader of the Opposition to convene a meeting of all political parties promptly and bring their suggestions to the assembly for discussion.
