“If They Have the Courage, Let Them Impose Governor’s Rule,” Says KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister **Sohail Afridi** has issued a strong warning to the federal government, saying there is no need for any external rule in the province. “If they have the courage, let them impose Governor’s Rule. We are not afraid,” he said while speaking to Geo News in Peshawar.

Afridi said that those attempting to implement “closed-door policies” in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa must rethink their approach. He emphasized that the province would not tolerate any unconstitutional interference.

Earlier, addressing a ceremony, the chief minister criticized the federal government, claiming it owed **over Rs3 trillion** to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the province was being subjected to discriminatory treatment despite its significant contributions.

Afridi highlighted ongoing welfare initiatives for persons with disabilities, stating that the provincial government would continue taking more measures for their support. He announced transportation arrangements, including buses, for disabled individuals in the merged districts, along with the provision of wheelchairs.

Speaking about social welfare, he recalled that when their leader built Shaukat Khanum Hospital, the entire nation contributed, and today the hospital treats thousands of cancer patients. He said KP was utilizing its own resources to help poor citizens, despite federal negligence.

Afridi added that the government would provide financial assistance to orphaned children under the age of 18. “Under the Ehsaas Umeed Card programme, we are giving Rs5,000 monthly to orphan children,” he said.

The chief minister reiterated that despite economic challenges, the KP government remained committed to supporting vulnerable communities through provincial resources and programmes.
