Government Has No Fear of PTI Founder, Says Rana Sanaullah

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — Senator Rana Sanaullah, Adviser to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Political Affairs, has said that the government has no fear of the PTI founder and supports allowing meetings with him under legal parameters.
Speaking on Geo News’ program *Naya Pakistan*, Rana Sanaullah said that while the PTI founder should be permitted to meet visitors, it is unacceptable for those meetings to be followed by hours-long press conferences encouraging unrest or calls for marches on Islamabad.
He stated that no law allows anyone to run a political movement from inside prison. “There is no legal provision that someone meets the PTI founder in jail and then comes out to hold lengthy press conferences,” he added.
Rana Sanaullah emphasized that the government will inform the public that it explored all legal avenues regarding the meeting requests, but security and intelligence reports indicated that PTI intended to repeat the protests associated with the previous November 26.
Responding to comparisons with former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s travel to London, he said, “Did Nawaz Sharif break jail to go to London? The then cabinet permitted it. The government has no fear of the PTI founder.”
He reiterated that meetings should be allowed in accordance with court directions, which clearly state that the meeting be facilitated but without political activity. Security agencies had intelligence that PTI supporters were planning a protest similar to the one held on the previous November 26.
Commenting on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s repeated visits to Adiala Jail, Rana Sanaullah remarked sarcastically that if he is so devoted to the PTI founder, “he should stage a hunger strike outside the jail till his last breath.”
