Karachi:Sindh Chief Minister **Murad Ali Shah** has assured that the provincial government will compensate for the losses caused by the devastating fire at **Gul Plaza** in Karachi.
Talking to the media, the Chief Minister said that the **top priority is saving lives** and that efforts are ongoing to locate those still missing. “Our first focus is on rescuing people. We are hopeful that those reported missing will be found soon,” he stated.
Murad Ali Shah acknowledged serious flaws in the approval process of the building, saying that permission for a **multi-storey structure was granted without proper studies**. He added that when authorities demand fire safety audits, builders often claim they are being treated unfairly.
The Chief Minister said the government would **compensate traders for their financial losses**, but stressed that the loss of human lives can never truly be compensated. “No amount of money can make up for a life lost,” he said.
Expressing regret, he noted that some people were **politicizing the tragedy**, which he termed unfortunate. He clarified that the **first fire tender reached the site on time**, and assured that **any negligence, if proven, would be punished** according to the law.
The statement comes as investigations continue into the causes of the fire and the safety violations that contributed to the scale of the tragedy.
