No One Will Be Allowed to Create a Rift Between the Army and the People: DG ISPR

Islamabad — Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that a certain individual has become a threat to national security, emphasizing that no one will be allowed to drive a wedge between the people of Pakistan and its armed forces.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the DG ISPR stated that this individual believes “if I am not there, nothing should exist.” He said the personal ambitions and ego-driven narrative of that individual have become dangerous for national security. According to him, the political narrative and fabricated allegations spread by this person have already collapsed.

Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif clarified that the Pakistan Army does not represent any political party, ethnic group, sect, or ideology, and that the institution belongs to the middle class of the country. He added that attacks on the army and its leadership for personal gains will not be tolerated. “Do your politics, but keep the army out of it,” he said, reiterating that no one will be allowed to incite the public against the armed forces.

The DG ISPR highlighted that anti-state networks in Afghanistan and India, along with certain PTI-affiliated social media accounts, are involved in spreading disinformation campaigns aimed at creating unrest in Pakistan. He also showed a video claiming that PTI’s social media was being operated from Afghanistan and India.

He condemned a controversial interview given by Imran Khan’s sister, Noreen Khan, to an Indian TV channel in which she suggested that the KP government should attack Adiala Jail to secure Imran Khan’s release. He said such statements are amplified by hostile media networks and foreign-backed groups to fuel chaos.

Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif added that propaganda surrounding the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) notification was based entirely on lies and misinformation. He stressed that freedom of speech cannot be used to spread falsehoods against state institutions.

Commenting on recent statements made by the same political figure, he said that calls to negotiate with terrorists and resist intelligence-based operations are “symptoms of mental instability.” He accused him of misleading citizens, inciting violence, and weakening national security.

The DG ISPR reiterated the military’s commitment to safeguarding Pakistan. “We have sworn an oath to protect the state. Anyone who thinks they are above the country is mistaken,” he said.

Regarding 9 May incidents, he said these cases belong to the people of Pakistan, not the Pakistan Army. All cases forwarded to military courts have now been concluded.

He also congratulated the new Chief of Defense Forces and announced that the CDF headquarters is now operational, adding that it will enhance coordination in national defense matters.

Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif dismissed rumors about Governor Rule, saying the decision lies solely with the government and the military has no role in it.

He concluded by saying that India’s media continues to act as a mouthpiece for PTI’s anti-state narrative, while foreign networks are actively interfering in Pakistan’s internal matters. The state, he reiterated, will not hold talks with the “Khawarij” and terrorism will be eliminated through sustained operations.
