Internet Misuse in Balochistan, Only Educational Institutions to Receive Fiber-Optic Access: CM Sarfraz Bugti

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, in an exclusive interview with a private TV channel, took a firm stance on issues of law and order, security, and corruption in the province.
The Chief Minister stated that the internet in Balochistan has been used against the state. Consequently, only schools, colleges, and universities across the province will now be provided with fiber-optic internet to ensure better educational facilities for students, while preventing its misuse.
He emphasized that, in his view, the real challenge is not terrorism but corruption, which will be addressed with strict action. On the security situation, Bugti said that if the state exercises its authority decisively, stability will improve, and the state will assert its control under all circumstances. He also mentioned that Balochistan police salaries are being aligned with those in other provinces.
The Chief Minister acknowledged that the youth are currently discontented and stressed the importance of bringing them closer to the state. To this end, he is personally engaging with students in universities.
Regarding law and order in tribal areas, he said each tribe bears the primary responsibility for protecting its territory, warning that failure to do so could allow terrorist infiltration. Using his own constituency, Bakhsh, as an example, he claimed the area remains peaceful due to strong cooperation with the state. He also criticized the tribal system, stating that it has undermined governance, and stressed that the state must take strict action against those involved in violent conflicts.
