Balochistan Local Body Elections Suspended, Quetta Polls Hangs in Balance; High Court Hearing Adjourned to December 23

**Quetta (Qudrat Daily):**
The Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court, Justice Muhammad Kamran Malakhel, on Thursday admitted a constitutional petition seeking the suspension of local body elections in the province. The hearing was subsequently adjourned until December 23 for detailed proceedings.

The petition was filed jointly by Balochistan Awami Party, Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Muslim League-N, Awami National Party, and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party. The petitioners argued that due to adverse weather conditions and issues with voter lists, holding the elections at this time could compromise public safety and law and order. They urged the High Court to defer the Quetta local body elections until these issues are resolved.

The High Court’s acceptance of the petition has put the fate of Quetta’s upcoming local body elections in uncertainty, raising concerns over timely electoral processes in the province.
