U.S. House Passes Spending Bill, Ending Longest Government Shutdown in History

WASHINGTON: The **U.S. House of Representatives** has passed a key spending bill following approval by the **Senate**, officially bringing an end to the **longest government shutdown in American history**.
According to U.S. media reports, the bill received support from **222 members**, including **six Democrats**, while **209 lawmakers**, including **two Republicans**, voted against it.
The legislation has now been sent to **President Donald Trump** for his signature.
The approval of the **temporary funding bill** ends a shutdown that began on **October 1**, marking the **longest closure of federal government operations** in U.S. history.
The measure provides funding for the government through **January 30**, allowing essential financial and administrative activities to continue without disruption.
The bill aims to **restore food assistance programs**, **ensure payment of federal salaries**, and **reactivate air traffic control operations**, all of which were severely impacted during the shutdown.
This development comes after weeks of political deadlock that led to significant interruptions across federal agencies and public services, affecting millions of Americans nationwide.
