Pakistan-Afghanistan Border at Chaman Remains Closed for 28 Days; Trade and Movement Suspended Amid Ongoing Tensions

*Chaman (Qudrat News)* — The **Pakistan-Afghanistan border at Chaman** has remained completely sealed for the **28th consecutive day** following clashes that erupted on **October 10**, halting all pedestrian movement and trade between the two countries. The prolonged closure has caused losses worth **millions of rupees** to traders, while thousands of passengers remain stranded on both sides.

According to reports, **sporadic exchange of fire** between security forces of the two countries occurred again on Thursday, lasting several hours before a **ceasefire** was agreed upon. The firing temporarily disrupted the repatriation of Afghan nationals but the process was **resumed on Friday**, and the return of Afghan refugees continues.

Meanwhile, **high-level talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan are underway in Istanbul**, focusing on border management, trade, and cross-border movement. Diplomatic sources expressed hope that the negotiations would soon lead to a final decision on reopening the border.

Security along the **Chaman border** has been placed on **high alert**, and all crossing points between the two countries remain completely closed.
