Balochistan Levies System Abolished, Merged into Police; Uniform Law Enforced, ‘Center of Excellence’ Established to Counter Anti-State Propaganda: CM

Quetta: Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has announced the complete abolition of the Levies system across the province, confirming that the force has been merged into the police, thereby enforcing a uniform law enforcement structure throughout Balochistan.

The announcement was made during a high-level meeting chaired by the chief minister regarding the establishment of a Center of Excellence for Countering Violence. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Home Hamza Shafqat, Inspector General of Police Balochistan Muhammad Tahir Khan, and other senior officials.

The chief minister said that with the merger of the Levies force into the police, a long-standing administrative ambiguity regarding law enforcement in Balochistan has come to an end. He stated that the move would clearly define the state’s responsibility and further strengthen public safety across the province.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that baseless propaganda against the state fuels social unrest and violence, adding that guiding youth in the right direction and informing them with facts is a pressing need of the time. He said the newly established Center of Excellence would serve as an effective platform for research, awareness, and countering violence.

He further stressed that institutional coordination and modern strategies are essential to curb extremism. The chief minister noted that positive narratives would be promoted through educational institutions and social media, as youth engagement and awareness are top government priorities for ensuring sustainable peace and stability in Balochistan.
