KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur Announces Resignation

Islamabad: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, has announced his resignation from office.

In a statement, Gandapur said he is stepping down in compliance with the directives of PTI founder Imran Khan. He added that Suhail Afridi, who has been nominated as the new Chief Minister, has his full support and confidence.

“We stand united for the release of our party founder and will move forward together in line with PTI’s policies,” Gandapur said.

Earlier, PTI Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja confirmed that the party had decided to remove Gandapur from the position and nominate Suhail Afridi as the new Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to Raja, this decision was made by Imran Khan in view of the worsening law and order situation in the province, particularly following the recent terrorist attack in Orakzai in which several security personnel were martyred.

He added that Khan believes KP must distance itself from the federal government’s “failed security policies” and focus on new strategies to curb terrorism.

Raja expressed hope that Suhail Afridi would lead the province effectively and engage with the federal authorities to ensure the protection of citizens.

Suhail Afridi, hailing from District Khyber, was elected for the first time from constituency PK-70. He previously served as President of the Insaf Students Federation (ISF) KP, as Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Communication and Works, and later as Minister for Higher Education in the provincial cabinet.
