May 9 Cases: ATC Lahore Adjourns Ijaz Chaudhry’s Bail Pleas Until September 9
LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore has adjourned until September 9 the hearing on bail applications filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ijaz Chaudhry in three cases related to the May 9 violence.
ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul heard the bail petitions, with Ijaz Chaudhry’s counsel, Mian Ali Ashfaq, appearing before the court to present arguments.
During the hearing, the prosecution sought additional time to submit the case records. The court subsequently adjourned the hearing on the bail applications until September 9.
Mian Ali Ashfaq argued that the prosecution was attempting to delay a decision on the bail petitions.
The bail applications were filed in cases involving the alleged attack on Jinnah House, the attack on Askari Tower and the burning of police vehicles near Jinnah House.
Ijaz Chaudhry is among the key suspects nominated in cases related to the May 9 incidents. He has been accused of inciting party workers to engage in vandalism, arson and violent activities on May 9.
