Chief Secretary Balochistan: Government Committed to Public Welfare and Better Living Standards

Quetta: Chief Secretary Balochistan, Shakeel Qadir Khan, has stated that the provincial government is fully committed to serving the people, ensuring their welfare, and improving their standard of living. He emphasized that access to essential services such as education, healthcare, and clean drinking water will be guaranteed for every citizen.

Addressing a conference of commissioners and deputy commissioners, the Chief Secretary highlighted that good governance principles have been strengthened, with public welfare as the top priority. He said that through District Development Committees, several development projects are being implemented on time to bring positive change to people’s lives.

He further added that strict monitoring mechanisms have been put in place to regulate prices of essential commodities in markets so that goods are sold at government-approved rates, protecting low- and middle-income groups from inflation. Officials were directed to conduct regular inspections and ensure compliance with official price lists.

Shakeel Qadir Khan also underlined the importance of social media in governance, instructing deputy commissioners to maintain active accounts on Facebook and X (Twitter) to effectively promote development projects, public awareness campaigns, and government services.

On environmental protection, he said that the provincial government has enforced a ban on plastic bags across different areas, promoting eco-friendly alternatives for a cleaner and healthier environment.

He directed that salaries of temporarily appointed teachers and doctors in education and health departments be released immediately, and advertisements for vacant posts under the third phase of recruitment be issued.

The Chief Secretary also stressed the importance of birth registration, noting its role in providing legal identity, accurate census data, and policy-making for national development. He instructed deputy commissioners to coordinate closely with NADRA in this regard.

Highlighting economic reforms, he said that promoting a cashless economy is the need of the hour. All deputy commissioners were directed to encourage mobile banking, online payments, credit/debit card usage, and other digital payment systems in shopping malls, markets, and general stores across their districts.
