Trump Unveils 21-Point Peace Plan for Gaza, Breakthrough Expected Soon

New York: U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East **Steve Witkoff** has expressed optimism that a breakthrough on Gaza could be announced in the coming days, following President **Donald Trump’s** presentation of a **21-point peace plan**.

On Tuesday, President Trump met with leaders and officials from **Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan** on the sidelines of the **UN General Assembly**. The talks focused on ending the nearly two-year-long war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas.

Witkoff revealed that the peace plan was shared with several leaders during the UNGA session. He added that **Israel is prepared to continue negotiations with Hamas**, while Hamas has also signaled openness to a potential settlement.

Regarding Iran, Witkoff said discussions are ongoing, though Tehran’s stance remains rigid:

> “We are eager to engage in talks with Iran, but their position is still very tough.”

Following these meetings, Trump is scheduled to meet **Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu** in Washington on Monday.

The conflict erupted after **Hamas’ October 7, 2023 attack**, which killed around **1,200 people**, mostly civilians, and led to **251 hostages** being taken, according to Israeli figures.

Since then, Gaza’s local authorities report that **over 65,000 people — the majority civilians — have been killed** in Israeli military operations.

The U.S. administration hopes that Trump’s plan, if accepted, could pave the way for a historic de-escalation in one of the world’s deadliest ongoing conflicts.
