World’s Largest Spider Web Possibly Discovered on Greece–Albania Border

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily)** — Researchers have discovered what may be the **world’s largest spider web** inside a cave located along the **border between Greece and Albania**.
The recently identified web spans an astonishing **100 square meters** and is home to approximately **69,000 local “Barn Funnel Weaver” spiders** and **42,000 “Sheet Weaver” spiders**.
Social spiders are known to build **colony-like webs** that house thousands of individuals, but such large-scale webs are **extremely rare**, especially those involving **multiple spider species**.
Until now, scientists had **never documented a shared web** woven jointly by different species living in a single habitat.
The massive web was **first spotted in 2022** by explorers conducting an **underground wildlife survey**. They reported the discovery of what they described as a **“spider megacity”**, prompting researchers to conduct multiple follow-up expeditions for further study.
According to scientists, the **entrance of the cave lies within Greece**, while its **deeper chambers extend into Albanian territory**, making the site an extraordinary **cross-border natural marvel**.
