Ban Imposed on Plastic Bags Across Balochistan, CM Sarfraz Bugti Urges Citizens to Use Eco-Friendly Alternatives

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has announced a province-wide ban on the use of plastic bags, urging citizens to adopt eco-friendly alternatives to protect the environment.
The decision was made during an important meeting of the *Saaf Quetta Integrated Solid Waste Management Project*, chaired by CM Bugti at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Tuesday.
Officials briefed the meeting that an average of 1,000 tons of garbage is collected daily from Quetta’s 84 wards, with a total of 281,000 tons already disposed of. Additionally, cleaning work on 18 major city drains has been completed.
CM Sarfraz Bugti directed authorities to make the project more efficient and effective, stating that banning plastic bags would not only help curb environmental pollution but also improve the cleanliness and beauty of the city.
He emphasized that the success of such government initiatives depends on the active cooperation of citizens, calling on them to replace plastic bags with environment-friendly shopping bags.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Quetta into a model city in terms of environmental improvement and sanitation, setting an example for other cities in the country.
