Mahmood Khan Achakzai Expresses Deep Grief Over Devastating Rainfall, Landslides in Northern Pakistan; Urges Nationwide Relief Effort

Quetta – Chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, leader of the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan, and Member of the National Assembly, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property caused by recent torrential rains, cloudbursts, and landslides in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit, and other northern regions of the country.

In a heartfelt video message, Achakzai recalled the catastrophic floods of 2010 that wreaked havoc across Quetta and Swat, causing damages worth billions. He noted that although substantial international aid was received at the time, the transparency of its distribution remains a separate debate.

Highlighting the scale of the current disaster in 2025, he pointed out that once again, severe storms have struck from Shangla to Buner and have now extended as far as Karachi, leaving behind widespread destruction. He lamented the loss of hundreds of lives and the devastation of entire villages in areas such as Shangla, Swat, Bajaur, Dir, and Buner.

“May Allah grant patience to the affected families and give them the strength to endure this great tragedy,” Achakzai said.

Stressing that this is not merely a provincial issue but a national and humanitarian crisis, he called on the Government of Pakistan and all philanthropists to contribute according to their capacity. He emphasized that the government must act with full transparency in providing assistance to those in need.

Achakzai also appealed to his party workers to form relief committees from Shangla to Swabi to collect aid and deliver it directly to the victims in an organized and transparent manner.

“This is the homeland of millions of Pashtuns, and among them are many generous individuals,” he said, urging them to come forward in this time of need. He personally committed to visiting the grieving families, and if unable to do so, he prayed for the deceased to be granted a place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and for their families to find strength and solace.

Achakzai’s message served as a call to unity and compassion, urging all Pakistanis to stand together in the face of this natural disaster.
