Attempt to Smuggle Narcotics via Allama Iqbal Express Foiled; Large Quantity of Drugs Recovered

Lahore: Pakistan Railways Police successfully foiled a drug smuggling attempt during a routine security check at Lahore Railway Station. Two women, originally from Bannu, were arrested after a significant quantity of narcotics was recovered from their belongings.
According to a spokesperson for Pakistan Railways Police, Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ikram, who was on duty, stopped the two women on suspicion. A female police officer conducted a search of their handbags, during which large amounts of drugs were discovered.
The search revealed 5.5 kilograms of hashish in the bag of a woman identified as Samreen, and 4.4 kilograms in the bag of another woman named Sobia. The suspects had transported the drugs from Bannu to Lahore by bus and were planning to smuggle them to Karachi via the Allama Iqbal Express.
Initial investigations suggest that the women were part of a broader smuggling operation. However, the alertness and swift action of the Railways Police thwarted their plan.
Following their arrest, separate cases have been registered against both women at the Railways Police Station in Lahore, and further investigation is underway.
The DIG North has commended the police team for their vigilance and successful action in preventing the drug trafficking attempt.
