PDMAs Monsoon Alert Issued for Punjab, Fifth Spell to Begin from July 28

Islamabad: The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a monsoon alert for the province, announcing that the fifth spell of rainfall will begin from July 28 and last until July 31. According to the PDMA spokesperson, heavy rains are expected across most districts of Punjab during this period.
Rainfall is forecasted in areas including Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Hafizabad. Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, and Jhang are also expected to experience rainfall.
The spokesperson further mentioned that Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, and Okara are likely to see rain. Between July 29 and 31, rainfall is also expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Bhakkar, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Vehari, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, and Rajanpur.
Relief Commissioner of Punjab, Nabeel Javed, has instructed all Deputy Commissioners across the province to remain on high alert. He emphasized that this year’s monsoon season has seen more intense rainfall, with 73% more rainfall recorded compared to last year.
Javed advised all concerned departments to stay alert and urged the public to follow the issued safety precautions. Due to the heavy rains, landslides are a potential threat in Murree and Galyat.
