Field Marshal Made No Political Statements in Brussels, May 9 Is a National Issue, Not Just Military: DG ISPR

Rawalpindi:The spokesperson of the Pakistan Army has clarified that the Field Marshal did not make any political statements during his visit to Brussels, nor did he give any interviews. Speaking to the media after attending an educational institution, the Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) emphasized that the events of May 9 are not just an issue for the military but a matter of national concern.
He stated that those involved in the events of May 9, including facilitators and responsible individuals, will have to face legal proceedings, and apologizing will not halt the legal process. “Regardless of the circumstances, everyone must face the law. This is not just the military’s issue—it is the nation’s issue,” he added.
Addressing recent media reports, DG ISPR said that during the Brussels event, the Field Marshal did not speak on any political matters or about the PTI, nor did he mention anything about pardons. The event had hundreds of attendees, and many photos were taken with them. However, no interview was given.
He criticized a senior journalist for misrepresenting the Field Marshal’s remarks and presenting edited and distorted content as an interview, terming it an act of irresponsibility.
