Initial Report Released on Ahmedabad Aircraft Crash: Fuel Supply Cut Caused Engine Failure

An initial investigation report into the tragic crash of a passenger aircraft in **Ahmedabad**, India, has been released by the **Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau of India**. According to the report, the crash occurred due to a failure in both engines caused by a complete fuel supply cut.
The report revealed that both fuel control switches were moved to the “CUTOFF” position with just a second’s difference, leading to the disruption of fuel supply and the subsequent shutdown of the engines. As a result, the aircraft began to descend.
In a cockpit recording, one pilot was heard asking the other why he had cut the fuel supply, to which the second pilot responded that he had not made such a decision. However, the report did not specify the reason behind the switches being set to “CUTOFF.”
While the report does not recommend any action against **Boeing** or the engine manufacturers, it stated that a **full investigation** might take over a year to complete.
This accident occurred in **June 2025**, when an **Air India passenger aircraft** crashed in **Ahmedabad**, resulting in the loss of **260 lives**, including that of **Gujarat’s former Chief Minister, Rupani**, who was also on board. The devastating tragedy has left the country in mourning, and further investigations will continue to unravel the circumstances leading to the unfortunate incident.
