Sri Lanka Uncovers Rare Purple Star Sapphire Worth Millions of Dollars

**Islamabad:** A **rare 3,563-carat purple star sapphire** has been discovered in Sri Lanka, dubbed the **“Star of Pure Land”**, believed to be the largest natural star sapphire of its kind in the world.
As its name suggests, the star sapphire is distinguished by its **stellar optical phenomenon called asterism**, which creates a shining star-like pattern on the stone’s surface.
Jewelry expert **Ashan Amrasinghe** stated that this is the largest purple star sapphire known to date, featuring a unique **six-rayed asterism**, setting it apart from other gemstones.
Amrasinghe estimates the gem’s value to be at least **$30 million**, a figure that, if confirmed, would place the **Star of Pure Land** among the **world’s most valuable gemstones**.
