Protests Continue in Balochistan as Grand Alliance Demands Action on Government’s Broken Promises

Quetta:In response to the call by the **Balochistan Grand Alliance**, a two-day office closure and protest campaign has been launched across **Quetta** and various districts of **Balochistan**. The protest is scheduled to continue today (Saturday), and on **June 23**, government employees from across the province will head to Quetta. On **June 24**, they plan to stage a sit-in outside the Provincial Assembly until their demands are met.
According to a central statement from the **Grand Alliance**, protests were held in all government offices and educational institutions on **Friday**, with the demonstration continuing on **Saturday**. The statement expresses deep concern over the government’s failure to honor its commitments, highlighting the fact that the **government’s negotiation team** had previously promised to meet the demands of the employees, but has now deviated from these promises. The Grand Alliance condemns this breach of trust, claiming that the government has not only disregarded its obligations but also disrespected the traditional values of both **Baloch** and **Pashtun** communities.
The **Grand Alliance** stated that the government’s refusal to honor its promises has left employees disillusioned and angry. The Alliance’s central body and **Core Committee** convened an emergency meeting in response to this situation and decided to intensify the protest movement across the province.
The two-day **office closure** from **June 20-21** included the shutdown of all government offices, educational institutions, and hospitals, except for emergency services. The workers are now mobilizing for **June 23**, when they will travel to **Quetta**. On **June 24**, they will hold a sit-in outside the Provincial Assembly, where they vow to continue until their demands—particularly for salary increases and other grievances—are addressed.
The statement further emphasized that the **Grand Alliance** will maintain its protests until its key demands, including an increase in salaries and improved working conditions, are fully accepted by the government. This is part of a broader struggle to achieve justice for the province’s government employees and to highlight the administration’s failure to uphold its promises.
The growing unrest among government workers in Balochistan indicates the rising frustration over unfulfilled commitments and the increasing need for urgent policy reform in the region.
