US State Department Reacts to Bilawal Bhutto-Led Pakistani Delegation’s Meetings with Trump Administration Officials

WASHINGTON — The US State Department has responded to the recent meetings between the Pakistani delegation led by Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and officials of the Trump administration.

State Department spokesperson Tami Bruce expressed hope that President Trump would be able to resolve the Kashmir issue during his tenure. When asked about Bilawal Bhutto’s discussions with Under Secretary for Political Affairs Allison Hooker and whether the US assured Pakistan of efforts to bring India to the negotiating table to maintain ceasefire and dialogue, Bruce confirmed that the meetings took place last week.

Bruce reiterated Allison Hooker’s reaffirmation of US support for the ongoing ceasefire between Pakistan and India. She also expressed gratitude that hostilities between the two countries have ceased and mentioned that bilateral issues, including counter-terrorism cooperation, were discussed during the talks.

Regarding whether Pakistan assured the US of taking action against terrorists, Bruce declined to comment on the specifics of the discussions between the Pakistani delegation and State Department officials.

When asked about the progress on President Trump’s offer to mediate the Kashmir dispute, Bruce said she could not speak to Trump’s plans but noted that the President is committed to ending conflicts that have lasted generations. She highlighted Trump’s unique role in bringing together parties once thought impossible to reconcile.

Bruce called this an exciting moment and expressed gratitude towards President Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for their involvement. She concluded with optimism that progress is being made daily and hopes that President Trump will successfully address the Kashmir issue during his administration.
