US Announces Fresh Military Operation Against Iran as Explosions Reported in Bandar Abbas
Washington/Tehran:** The United States has announced a new round of military operations against Iran, while multiple explosions have been reported in the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas, further escalating tensions in the region.
According to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), American forces launched fresh strikes aimed at limiting Iran’s capabilities that the U.S. claims pose a threat to commercial and civilian shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, CENTCOM said the operations were carried out under the direction of the U.S. Commander-in-Chief to hold Iranian forces accountable for actions that Washington considers a threat to regional security.
Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that several loud explosions were heard in Bandar Abbas. However, authorities have not yet released details regarding the cause of the blasts or any casualties or damage.
According to U.S. media reports, the latest military action followed an alleged attack by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on a commercial vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. fighter aircraft reportedly responded by targeting an Iranian cruise missile and a drone.
