JI Balochistan Chief Slams Provincial Government’s Performance, Presents 30-Point Budget Proposal

Quetta:Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan chief and provincial assembly member Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch has expressed disappointment over the one-year performance of the Balochistan government, alleging increased corruption, lawlessness, and unemployment under Chief Minister’s leadership. Addressing a press conference at the Quetta Press Club alongside party leaders, he described the past year as a “bloody year” for the province.
Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman announced that Jamaat-e-Islami has submitted a **30-point budget proposal** aimed at ensuring a better future for Balochistan. These proposals will be presented in **democratic forums, parliament, and directly to the government**.
### Key Demands and Proposals:
* **Education:** Reactivate all closed schools in the province with essential facilities including water, electricity, toilets, and recreational areas.
* **Healthcare:** Equip all district hospitals and BHUs with modern facilities and provide free medicine from multinational companies through an efficient system.
* **Clean Water:** End the tanker mafia and ensure uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water.
* **Electricity:** Ensure continuous electricity in all districts.
* **Employment:** Provide jobs to 100,000 youth and empower them economically.
* **Healthcare Aid:** Free and immediate treatment for patients suffering from cancer, thalassemia, kidney, liver, and heart diseases.
* **Welfare:** Monthly stipends for orphans, widows, and persons with disabilities.
* **Utility Bills:** Government should pay utility bills for major mosques and minority worship places.
* **Anti-Corruption:** Enact strict anti-corruption laws, monitor fuel and vehicle misuse, and switch to smaller vehicles to save fuel.
* **Austerity:** Ban government events at luxury hotels and prevent free meals, Hajj, and Umrah at public expense.
* **Foreign Trips:** Ban unnecessary official foreign tours for ministers and bureaucrats.
* **Salary Reform:** Match Balochistan police salaries with those of Punjab police.
* **Economic Relief:** Declare Balochistan a disaster-hit region due to repeated natural calamities and waive previous electricity bills for domestic consumers.
* **CPEC Share:** Demand a larger share of CPEC investment for Balochistan.
* **Resource Use:** Stop exploitation of mineral resources by big corporations; use the income for local development.
* **Fisheries & Agriculture:** Launch special packages for fishermen and farmers, including easy access cards and subsidies.
* **Border Trade:** Develop border markets from Chaman to Gwadar for employment generation.
* **Religious & Private Schools:** Support madrassas and low-cost private schools.
* **Local Government Empowerment:** Give local councils financial and administrative authority with special development funds.
* **Youth Education:** Launch a scheme to send up to 1 million youth to China for free technical education under CPEC.
He further alleged that **real power does not rest with the Chief Minister**, accusing unelected powerful circles of controlling provincial resources.
In response to questions, he confirmed that **peaceful protests** are being planned, including a youth forum and women’s conference on **May 25**, as well as student events in religious and academic institutions.
Maulana Baloch reiterated his dissatisfaction with the government’s performance, stating, “We are not here just to criticize, but to reform. We are fulfilling our duty by proposing a constructive and people-oriented budget.” He also questioned the outcomes of CPEC Phase I, saying, “We got nothing in Phase I, so what can we expect in Phase II?”
