Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan Announces Long March to Islamabad for Provincial Rights, Demands Justice and Peace

Quetta:Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and MPA, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, has announced a long march towards Islamabad aimed at securing the constitutional rights of Balochistan. Addressing the party’s monthly provincial review meeting in Quetta, he urged district leaders and party workers to begin preparations for the march.

Key demands include access to Balochistan’s coast and resources, revival of trade, recovery of missing persons, reopening of borders, an end to the use of force, and the restoration of peace and justice. Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman stated, “The Islamabad march will awaken the rulers from their slumber. A protest sit-in of one hundred thousand people in Quetta is also under consideration.”

He condemned the worsening law and order situation in Balochistan and said the government has failed to ensure the safety of lives and property. “No conscious citizen can support the killing of innocent people, mutilated bodies, enforced disappearances, and the economic blockade that is deepening poverty and unemployment,” he said. He also called for an increase in salaries and resolution of employees’ issues in the upcoming budget.

The meeting was attended by prominent party leaders including Provincial General Secretary Murtaza Khan Kakar, Parliamentary Secretary Engineer Abdul Majeed Badini, Abdul Mateen Akhundzada, Maulana Abdul Kabir Shakir, Bashir Ahmad Mandai, Zahid Akhtar Baloch, Prof. Maulana Ayub Mansoor, Maulana Arif Domar, and others.

Leaders presented departmental performance reports and discussed future plans. It was also decided to launch a public grievance office at the Jamaat-e-Islami provincial headquarters, where Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman and Engineer Abdul Majeed Badini will listen to citizens’ concerns daily.

Criticizing the state’s security policies, Maulana said, “Security budgets are spent on protecting institutions, not the people. The public is left to face terror and despair. The establishment and government are playing the role of silent spectators.” He rejected recent meetings between top military and political leadership with “favorites” instead of genuine public representatives, calling them superficial and ineffective.

He warned that unless meaningful dialogue is held with true representatives of the people, and media and national parties play a sincere role in ensuring justice and resolving the crisis, the situation will deteriorate beyond control. “Bullets, threats, and arrogance will only worsen the crisis,” he added.

District leaders were assigned specific targets and responsibilities to mobilize support for the Islamabad march, with the announcement that the public grievance office (“Awami Baithak”) will be inaugurated soon.
