Balochistan 700,000 Metric Ton Wheat Theft Scandal: NAB Receives Permission to File Reference Against Chairman

Quetta: After extensive investigations, NAB Balochistan has obtained permission from the Chairman of NAB to file a reference in the historic 700,000 metric ton wheat theft case involving the Balochistan Food Department. The stolen quantity is equivalent to approximately 7 million sacks, with an estimated value exceeding PKR 40 billion.

Sources stated that the Chairman of NAB signed the approval on November 8, 2025, allowing NAB Balochistan to prepare for formally submitting the reference in the Accountability Court Quetta. The case involves over 80 accused, including former Food Secretary, directors, district food controllers, silo in-charges, contractors, and private individuals.

NAB officials emphasized that instability and unrest in Balochistan are linked to increasing corruption, and restoring fear of accountability through strict anti-corruption measures is essential to prevent impunity and looting by corrupt elements.
