Indian Foreign Secretary Denies U.S. Role in India-Pakistan Ceasefire Agreement

New Delhi:Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has categorically denied any involvement of the United States in the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, asserting that the ceasefire was a purely bilateral agreement. He made these remarks while briefing the Parliamentary Committee on Monday.

Misri emphasized that the ceasefire between the two countries was entirely bilateral, with no intervention or facilitation from former U.S. President Donald Trump. He further clarified that Trump did not seek permission from India to intervene and that he had taken the initiative to be involved, wanting to step onto the stage on his own.

In his briefing, Misri also mentioned that the conflict between Pakistan and India remained within the realm of conventional warfare, adding that there was no evidence of any nuclear threats or signals coming from Islamabad.

Indian media reports noted that the Parliamentary Committee repeatedly inquired about the number of Indian aircraft destroyed by Pakistan during the conflict. However, Misri refused to answer, citing national security concerns.

Earlier on Monday, Pakistan rejected claims made by Indian media regarding the use of Shaheen missiles in the conflict. A spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Office described the claims as baseless and fabricated. The Indian military, after the allegations were proven false, removed the video from its platforms. However, Indian media continued to propagate the misleading narrative without any clarification or retraction from the Indian army.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson stated that the media campaign was an attempt by India to conceal its failure in Operation Sunder. He also pointed out that the false propaganda was linked to misleading narratives about the ceasefire and the false narrative of nuclear blackmail.

According to the spokesperson, the details of the weapons used by Pakistan were included in the May 12 press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). Pakistan had deployed a variety of modern military assets, including Fateh-1 and Fateh-2 missiles, advanced drones, and long-range artillery.
