Doctor Allegedly Re-Breaks Disabled Girl’s Leg After Family Fails to Pay Bribe in India

A shocking incident has emerged from India’s Uttar Pradesh state, where a doctor allegedly re-broke a 14-year-old mentally disabled girl’s leg after her family failed to pay a demanded bribe.

According to Indian media reports, the incident took place in Muzaffarnagar district. The victim, the daughter of a widowed woman named Reshma, had suffered a broken leg around six weeks ago and was admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Hospital staff allegedly demanded a bribe of 25,000 Indian rupees before performing surgery. Although district authorities had directed that the girl’s treatment should be provided free of charge, her mother was only able to arrange 8,000 rupees. Following the payment, orthopedic surgeon Dr. P.K. Chaturvedi reportedly carried out the operation.

Later, when Reshma returned to the hospital for a follow-up examination and was unable to pay the remaining amount, the doctor allegedly became angry. Under the pretense of conducting a medical examination, he reportedly twisted the girl’s leg with force.

Subsequent X-rays conducted at another hospital allegedly revealed that the bone, which had previously healed, had been broken again.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage among local residents, who are demanding strict action against the doctor. Authorities are being urged to conduct a thorough investigation and hold those responsible accountable.
