Border Closure Leaves Millions Struggling with Economic Hardships, Says Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch

Quetta: Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), stated that the closure of the border has left millions of people and families facing severe economic challenges, with many becoming dependent on charity for their daily sustenance.
Speaking at a monthly organizational review meeting at the provincial office of Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Baloch emphasized the support received from the business community at all levels during the strike. He also announced that, as part of the ongoing Haqooq-e-Balochistan (Rights of Balochistan) campaign, a Ulama and Mashayikh Convention would be held on May 11, followed by a Youth Jirga on May 25.
He urged the unification and organization of people from all walks of life—including youth, religious scholars, lawyers, traders, and laborers—to collectively strive for their rights. “We will further strengthen and activate Jamaat-e-Islami. We have outlined 26 key points to address national issues and ensure the acquisition of collective rights, and we aim to unite everyone around these principles,” Maulana Baloch stated.
The meeting was attended by provincial leadership, including Provincial General Secretary Murtaza Khan Kakar, Deputy Amir Abdul Mateen Akhundzada, Zahir Akhtar Baloch, Maulana Abdul Kabir Shakir, Dr. Ata-ur-Rehman, and several other senior members.
In the meeting, it was decided that the Haqooq-e-Balochistan movement would be intensified and organized further. “If the Haqooq-e-Balochistan movement succeeds, it will guarantee the provision of rights and resources to every segment of society, including workers,” Maulana Baloch said. He warned of a conspiracy to exploit Balochistan’s resources, border trade, and coastal benefits, with external forces seeking to deprive the people of their rights.
