Balochistan Government Bans Night-Time Public Transport to Enhance Security

Quetta:* The Balochistan government has imposed a ban on public transport during night hours across the province. As per the new directive, all forms of public transport will be prohibited from operating on highways between **5:00 PM and 5:00 AM**.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Provincial Transport Secretary **Muhammad Hayat Kakar**, attended by representatives of various transport associations. The move aims to improve public safety and curb illegal activities such as smuggling.
Transport Secretary Kakar stated that **strict action** will be taken against violators, including the **cancellation of route permits**. All Deputy Commissioners across the province have been directed to ensure compliance with the ban.
In addition, transporters have been instructed to install **tracking systems in passenger coaches**, deploy **security guards**, and follow anti-smuggling guidelines to enhance passenger safety.
The Transport Department emphasized that these measures are in line with directives from the Balochistan Home Department to ensure secure travel conditions throughout the province.
