PAC Meeting Disrupted by Protest Against Alleged Retaliation Against MNA Sanaullah Masti Khel

The **Public Accounts Committee (PAC)** meeting, chaired by **Junaid Akbar Khan**, was abruptly **adjourned** due to a **protest** by members against the alleged **retaliatory actions** against **MNA Sanaullah Masti Khel**. The protest came after the **PAC** members walked out of the meeting, expressing their concern over the **safety of public representatives**. The members voiced that if elected representatives are not safe, then the **parliament** itself loses its value.
During the meeting, **MNA Sanaullah Masti Khel** revealed that after raising questions about a general’s role at **WAPDA**, officials from the department came to his village and **removed his electricity meter and transformer**. Expressing his dismay, **Chairman Junaid Akbar Khan** said, “If this behavior continues, it will be impossible to continue the PAC session.”
Member **Khawaja Shiraz Mehmood** declared solidarity with **Sanaullah Masti Khel**, saying, “Regardless of the decision, we stand by Sanaullah Masti Khel.”
Another committee member, **Senator Saleem Mandviwala**, termed the situation unacceptable, stating, “Such issues should not be raised in a session of protest. You should raise the matter with the Speaker.”
**MNA Hina Rabbani Khar** pointed out the gravity of the situation, saying, “If questions from members lead to such reactions, then we should reconsider sitting in Parliament.” **MNA Naveed Qamar** also emphasized the seriousness of the matter, suggesting immediate action should be taken with the Speaker.
An emotional **Sanaullah Masti Khel** said, “We are loyal to Pakistan. I’ve been in Parliament for 22–23 years. If someone has a problem, demolish my house and make a video, but we won’t bow down to pressure.”
**Naveed Qamar** referred to the incident as an **assault on the entire assembly**, saying, “An attack on one is an attack on all.” **Senator Afnanullah Khan** condemned the act, calling for strong action against the perpetrators, while **Hina Rabbani Khar** termed the act **“goon-like behavior”** and voiced her strong protest.
Given the seriousness of the situation, **Chairman Junaid Akbar Khan** immediately summoned the **Secretary of Power** for an urgent meeting. Later, speaking to the media, **Chairman Junaid Akbar Khan** stated that this incident was not just an attack on the **PAC**, but on **Parliament** and **democracy** as a whole. He confirmed that the **entire committee** had strongly condemned the actions.
Junaid Akbar further clarified that the incident was unrelated to **FESCO** and was caused by a general’s personal grievance. “These are the people who operate from behind the scenes, and those known to the public only act on their instructions,” he explained. The **PAC Chairman** confirmed that tomorrow the **FESCO chief** would also be summoned to explain the matter.
In response, **MNA Sanaullah Masti Khel** clarified that he is neither a defaulter nor has he acted against Pakistan. As a PAC member, he stressed that his responsibility is to ensure **unbiased accountability**. He affirmed that he would continue raising questions for transparency, emphasizing that the **removal of the transformer** was not the issue, but rather the **reaction** to his inquiry, which he considered an **insult to Parliament**.
