Drone Attack on Mehrgarh ‘Highly Alarming and Condemnable,’ Says Nawab Aslam Raisani

QUETTA: Former Balochistan chief minister and Chief of Sarawan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani has expressed serious concern over the recent drone attack on Mehrgarh, describing the incident as highly alarming and condemnable.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Nawab Raisani said Mehrgarh was a symbol of the region’s historical heritage, tribal unity and peace.

“Repeatedly targeting this centre, including through the recent drone attack, is extremely concerning,” he said.

Raisani said the incident reinforced fears that the use of force in Balochistan was being intensified, while efforts were allegedly continuing to restrict peaceful political and democratic struggle.

‘Mehrgarh Is a National and Tribal Centre’

The former chief minister said Mehrgarh was not the home of any one individual but a national, historical and tribal centre.

“Such incidents further deepen feelings of deprivation and hatred among the people,” he said.

Raisani added that state authorities should understand that history would never forget the desecration of national heritage sites or people’s homes.

Calls for Dialogue and Political Solution

Nawab Raisani said peaceful and political efforts to protect national and tribal rights would continue.

He warned that the use of force in Balochistan could further complicate the situation, describing the province as a land of historic importance.

He called for peace, political dialogue and improvement in the situation instead of further escalation. The state, he said, should prioritise negotiations and a political solution over the use of force.
