Balochistan Government to Use AI and IT for Governance and Youth Development

Quetta:A consultative meeting of the Department of Information Technology was held in Quetta under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sardar Fazal Bughti. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary of Balochistan, Shakeel Qadir Khan, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, Secretary IT Ayaz Khan Mandokhel, Secretary Finance Imran Zarkoon, CEO of Balochistan Education Endowment Fund (BEEF) Zakir Khan Norzai, AI expert Irfan Malco, and others.

The meeting decided to utilize advanced IT technologies for enhancing transparency in various sectors, including governance and scholarships. It was also agreed to modernize the financial affairs of the Department of Finance and development projects with cutting-edge technologies. One of the key proposals under discussion was using AI to assess the mental capabilities of young candidates applying for various scholarships under BEEF.

Participants were briefed on the potential of AI in profiling the individual skills of youth, allowing for more accurate talent identification. It was also discussed that AI-based monitoring could play a crucial role in preventing resource wastage in government departments and improving performance.

Chief Minister Balochistan instructed the Chief Secretary and Secretary Finance to formulate a practical plan for improving governance using AI, emphasizing that modern information technology could play a pivotal role in enhancing transparency and efficiency in government operations. He also highlighted the importance of preventing the negative use of AI while promoting its positive aspects.

The Chief Minister stressed that moving towards digital governance in Balochistan was a critical need of the time. He reiterated that preparing youth for future challenges was a top priority for the government, and the timely and effective use of IT would lead to merit-based decision-making, transparency, and productive outcomes.
