Bilawal Bhutto Meets Mahmood Achakzai, Raja Nasir Abbas; Calls Imran Khan’s Hospital Transfer a Positive Democratic Tradition

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari held an important political meeting with Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Opposition Leader in the Senate Allama Raja Nasir Abbas at the Opposition Chamber of the National Assembly.
A joint statement regarding the meeting was issued by Akhundzada Hussain Yousafzai, spokesperson for the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aain-e-Pakistan.
According to the statement, representatives of the opposition and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), including Salman Akram Raja, Asad Qaiser, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Aamir Dogar, Adil Bazai and Akhundzada Hussain, attended the meeting.
The PPP delegation included Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Sherry Rehman, Naveed Qamar and Nadeem Afzal Chan.
The participants held detailed discussions on the country’s overall political situation and parliamentary affairs.
During the meeting, Bilawal Bhutto requested the opposition leadership to join all important parliamentary committees and play an active and constructive role in parliamentary proceedings.
The opposition leaders responded that they would take a final decision on participation in the parliamentary committees after consulting PTI founder Imran Khan.
According to the statement, both sides agreed to enhance mutual coordination on legislation within Parliament.
The PPP leadership also urged opposition parties to play their full role in the parliamentary process of electoral reforms to help ensure transparency in future elections.
The PPP further welcomed the transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan to Al Shifa International Hospital following a Supreme Court decision, describing the move and provision of medical treatment as a positive democratic tradition.
