KP Information Minister Defends Court Ruling on Imran Khan’s Medical Report

KARACHI:Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan has questioned the government’s objections to a court ruling concerning the medical report of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Speaking on the television programme *Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath*, Shafi Jan said the decision was based on the principles of justice and was issued by an independent judiciary and independent judges.

He said the PTI would honor the assurances it had given to the court and would abide by the decision because it had been made on merit.

“Since the court has given a decision on merit, what objection does the government have?” he asked.

Shafi Jan said the PTI had no input in the medical report on which the court’s decision was based.

He also said the call for a protest on September 27 remained in place. However, he added that the party leadership would now hold consultations, including with its allies, before finalizing the future course of action and presenting it to the public.

The remarks came a day after the Supreme Court ordered that PTI founder Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa Hospital until the next hearing. The court also directed that a medical board be constituted for Khan and that he be transferred to the hospital under tight security.

The court further ordered that the law-and-order situation outside the hospital should not be disrupted.
