Governor’s Rule Option Available in KP if Powerful Public Movement Emerges on Sept 27: Muneeb Farooq

ISLAMABAD: Political analyst Muneeb Farooq has said that if a strong public movement emerges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on September 27, the option of imposing governor’s rule in the province remains available, although it would not provide a permanent solution.
Speaking during a private television programme, Muneeb Farooq said the current situation presented two possible options: the imposition of governor’s rule and the use of force, which some consider a long-term solution.
He said the option of using force had not been ruled out and could be considered depending on how the situation develops.
According to the analyst, governor’s rule could serve as a temporary administrative arrangement, but it would not constitute a permanent solution to the province’s political problems.

He said the political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the potential public reaction could play an important role in determining the course of events in the coming days.
Muneeb Farooq further said that, according to the establishment’s assessment, the existing system had delivered results from 2022 to date.
He said the pace of the system’s performance could fluctuate, but the establishment believed that, overall, the system had produced results.
He added that the future situation would depend on public reaction, political developments and decisions taken by the government.
