Balochistan Chief Secretary Directs Officials to Ensure Prompt Public Service and Faster Development

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan has directed government officials to remain accessible to the public at all times and ensure that their departments respond swiftly to citizens’ complaints, while reviewing progress on public welfare, development projects, and the repatriation of undocumented foreign nationals.

The directives were issued during a Deputy Commissioners’ Conference chaired by the Chief Secretary, attended by provincial secretaries, commissioners, and deputy commissioners from across the province.

Shakeel Qadir Khan said the provision of essential services, including clean water, healthcare, education, and road infrastructure, remains among the provincial government’s top priorities. He instructed officials to further improve service delivery and ensure timely resolution of public grievances.

The meeting was informed that 516 development projects had been completed under the Monitoring and Evaluation Section. Officials were directed to strengthen monitoring mechanisms to ensure the early completion of the remaining projects.

Participants were also told that 4,047 development projects had been launched under the first and second phases of the Balochistan Sustainable Development Initiative (BSDI), with approximately 90 percent of them already completed.

The Chief Secretary instructed authorities to ensure effective collection of agricultural income tax to improve revenue generation and strengthen the financial capacity of government departments.

He also ordered strict monitoring of food prices to provide organized and sustained relief to consumers.

According to the meeting, 53 open public forums (Khuli Kacheris) were held across the province during the past month, where 953 public complaints were registered. The Chief Secretary directed the relevant officials to resolve the complaints promptly and ensure accountability.

The conference was informed that a 15-day ban has been imposed across the province on the sale and transportation of explosive materials and specified fertilizers, with authorities instructed to strictly enforce safety regulations during the restriction period.

Officials also reported that the construction of prefabricated (prefab) houses for government officers in various districts is in its final stages. The initiative is expected to improve service delivery by facilitating the accommodation of officials in remote areas.

The Chief Secretary further instructed departments to undertake plantation drives around prefab housing schemes and government buildings to promote environmental improvement and increase green cover.

Concluding the meeting, Shakeel Qadir Khan emphasized that all provincial institutions should work in coordination for public welfare, adopt an integrated approach to resolving local issues, and ensure transparency and timely completion of development projects through continuous monitoring.
