Quetta Set to Become ‘Clean Quetta’ in 15 Days: MC Administrator Announces Major Urban Development Plans

**Quetta:** Administrator Metropolitan Corporation Quetta, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qamberani, announced a comprehensive plan to improve sanitation and urban infrastructure in Quetta, stating that within the next 15 days the entire city will come under the “Safa Quetta” initiative. Currently, over 1,300 tons of garbage are collected daily across the city.
Speaking at Quetta Press Club, Qamberani said that actions have been taken against 300 ghost employees, and the corporation is being restructured with experts appointed in tax, revenue, horticulture, finance, and fine arts departments. The administrator emphasized that the initiative aims to bridge the trust gap between the public and government.
Under the expanded “Safa Quetta” plan, all city areas—including Kachlak, Sariab, and Nohisar—will receive comprehensive cleaning services, ensuring that accumulated waste from previous years is cleared by March. Citizens can now report complaints via a dedicated WhatsApp number, with a commitment to address issues within 24 hours.
Two new wings have been created within the corporation: a Horticulture Wing, which will launch a citywide tree plantation and maintenance campaign, and a Fine Arts Wing, responsible for sculptures, wall paintings, and aesthetic enhancements throughout Quetta.
The administrator further highlighted modernization plans, including digital records of all metropolitan assets, geo-tagging in collaboration with the University of Balochistan, and the launch of a mobile application. Reconstruction of the historic Quetta Café Buldiya is also underway, with its reopening scheduled for March.
In addition, the administration is reviewing and improving the city’s building code, implementing traffic management training for 100 staff, and converting key areas into no-parking zones or pedestrian-friendly spaces to reduce congestion. Restrictions have been imposed on construction along five major roads, and anti-encroachment operations are ongoing with inspection teams ensuring compliance.
Plans also include constructing 30 public toilets in the next three months, with a second phase adding 60 more, along with 100 public waiting areas across the city. Qamberani stressed that all measures are focused on practical outcomes, with progress updates provided to the public every three months.
