Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party Condemns Removal of Takto Avenue Sign, Calls for Immediate Reinstallation

Quetta: The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PNAP) has strongly condemned the removal of the “Takto Avenue” signboard on Main Airport Road in Quetta, calling it a deliberate conspiracy and an attack on the city’s historical and cultural identity.

In a press release from the provincial secretariat, PNAP criticized the unknown elements responsible for taking down the signboard under the cover of darkness, describing the act as a blatant insult to public sentiment and an attempt to distort Quetta’s identity. The party expressed serious concern over the inaction and silence of the relevant authorities.

The statement emphasized that “Takto Avenue” is more than just a name; it reflects Quetta’s history, geography, and culture. Takto Mountain is a centuries-old, proud symbol of the region, and naming the road after it was a wise decision aligned with public sentiment, widely appreciated across communities. Removing the signboard, according to PNAP, not only disrespects public opinion but also undermines local history, culture, and identity, creating anxiety and frustration among citizens.

PNAP demanded the immediate reinstallation of the Takto Avenue signboard, strict legal action against those responsible, and preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future. The party warned that failure to address the issue would prompt protests across all democratic and constitutional platforms. PNAP reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Quetta’s historical, geographical, and cultural identity at every level.
