Karachi Issues Special Traffic Plan for Chehlum Procession, MA Jinnah Road to Remain Closed

Karachi: The Karachi Traffic Police has announced a special traffic management plan for the Chehlum procession on Tuesday, August 4, with MA Jinnah Road remaining closed to traffic during the main procession.

According to the traffic police, vehicles traveling from Saddar to Tower will be diverted through Preedy Street and II Chundrigar Road. Diversions will also be in place around Lighthouse, Empress Market, Regal Chowk, and Tibet Centre.

Traffic coming from Sharea Quaideen will be redirected towards Kashmir Road and People’s Chowrangi. Vehicles arriving from Korangi, Landhi, and the National Highway will be diverted via Rashid Minhas Road to the Super Highway.

Motorists traveling from Nazimabad will be able to reach their destinations through Lasbela, Garden, and Nishtar Road, while traffic from Liaquatabad will be diverted from Lasbela Chowk towards Nazimabad No. 10.

Traffic from Hasan Square will be routed through Sharea Quaideen, Society Light Signal, and Teen Hatti to Lasbela Chowk. Vehicles coming from Sharea Faisal will use Society Light Signal and Sher Shah Suri Road, while motorists traveling from Jamshed Road to Guru Mandir have been advised to use Bahadur Yar Jang Road or Soldier Bazaar Road.

The traffic police also announced that heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city from 10:00 a.m. until the conclusion of the procession. Parking along the procession route has been strictly prohibited, and illegally parked vehicles will be towed immediately.

The main Chehlum procession is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, from Nishtar Park.
