Pakistan Supports China’s Core National Interests and One-China Policy: President Zardari

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Pakistan fully supports China’s core national interests and its One-China policy, emphasizing that the long-standing relationship between the two countries has evolved into an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
He made these remarks while addressing a ceremony held in Islamabad to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, which was attended by officials from both countries.
President Zardari said that the journey that began 75 years ago has now transformed into a strong and enduring strategic partnership. He added that Pakistan and China have consistently supported each other’s core national interests, and their friendship remains a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
He noted that development remains a shared vision for both countries and that bilateral relations enjoy strong public, political, and institutional support. He further stated that under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping, the relationship has reached new heights.
Reiterating Pakistan’s position, the president said that Pakistan supports China’s core national interests and firmly upholds the One-China policy.
He also praised China’s role in global development, security, and governance, calling it commendable.
Highlighting infrastructure cooperation, President Zardari said that the construction of Gwadar Port is a great gift from China to Pakistan, contributing significantly to regional connectivity and economic development.
He added that he visited China twice this year, where he held productive discussions with provincial leadership and business representatives.
Concluding his speech, he prayed for peace, development, and prosperity for both nations.
