Tanker Damaged by Unknown Projectile Off Oman Coast Amid Heightened Regional Tensions

The **UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO)** has reported that a tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile off the coast of Oman, causing damage to its engine room.
In a maritime security advisory, UKMTO said it received a report from the vessel’s company security officer stating that the incident occurred approximately **11 nautical miles northeast of Lima, Oman**.
According to the advisory, the projectile damaged the ship’s engine room. Regional coast guard authorities have been notified, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
UKMTO said there were **no reports of casualties or environmental pollution**, while the flag of the affected vessel has not yet been identified.
The incident comes amid heightened security tensions around the **Strait of Hormuz** following recent military confrontations between the United States and Iran.
